yi yi

made me sob and while not specifically knowing why.

not a groundbreaking thought but theres something so so special about the way Edward Yang captures the feeling of floundering through everyday life that consistently breaks my heart. yiyi is so reserved yet so poignant and rich in the way it captures the pain of uncertainty in your existence, having to cope with inescapable feelings of regret and nostalgia alongside with the convergence of two in acceptance.

its so uncomfortable to think about the past and the future.. yet i still do. I long for the future. I long for the past. I long for anything other than what is 'now.' Regardless all that can be done is to ruminate and move on in whatever capacity you can. Sometimes what is.. is, and that can be something very hard to accept.

thank u Edward Yang <3
